When Silke Hermann and Niels Pflaeging founded Red42, in 2018, the first new concept they published together under the new brand name was OpenSpace Beta: A powerful social technology suited to transform entire organizations to coherent self-organization, decentralization and high performance – within just a few months, regardless of size or industry. They started to call this new kind of approach Very Fast Organizational Transformation, or #VFOT. Already in early 2019, just 9 months after they had originally conceived OpenSpace Beta, the two were able to undertake a full-fledged company transformation with the approach, together with a client. Silke stepped in as Master of Ceremonies, and the transformation was concluded just six months later.
Since then, Red42 has undertaken quite a few transformations for or with clients from different countries and industries – and so have some colleagues and peers qualified by Red42.
During the "5 Years of OpenSpace Beta" celebration event on 02 June 2023, together with Daniel Mezick and Rijon Erickson, Silke and Niels took a critical look at the past, present and future of Very Fast Organizational Transformation. Sharing memories, secrets and insights they gained during the last five years, making connections and drawing personal conclusions, too.
