Cell structure design focuses organizations on their value creation: It consistently rejects overemphasis on steering and functional managers, or on hierarchical coordination. The purpose of Cell Structure Design is to shape organizations in such a way that they are both robust in the face of complexity and meet humanistic-democratic requirements. Cell Structure Design makes consistent use of internal organizational mastery and expertise. It is equally suitable for public and private organizations. Cell Structure Design is a free-to-use, open source social technology based on the CC-BY-SA license from Creative Commons.

The Cell Structure Design Practitioner qualification aims to prepare participants for practical creation and long-term use of a decentralized network structure. Insight and learning during the day are supported by a range of practical exercises. Cell Structure Design creators Silke Hermann and Niels Pflaeging also share experience, tricks and insights achieved during decades of work with decentralized structures and Beta transformation.

1-day workshop: Starts 10.00am, ends 5.00pm.

Group size: up to 11 participants.

The Certificate

Participants receive a digital certificate of attendance. The certificate is based on course attendance and is dependent on participation in the full workshop sequence. Following the workshop, participants may use the title Cell Structure Design Practitioner. Our certification is not an accreditation. There is no contractual obligation beyond the workshop.

Character of the Workshop session

This qualification is based on “iterative-discursive” didactics - in line with the content. The didactics of this workshop consists of three elements:

•     "Lean" conceptual input

•     Deepening exercises in the full group or small groups 

•     Discourse on what has been learned

We do not use PowerPoint. This is not a seminar or training - but a real workshop with plenty of interaction! It is possible to dispense with lecturing due to the obligatory preparatory reading.

Reading of the Organize for Complexity book and the Laws of the BetaCodex booklet ahead of the workshop sessions is a prerequisite. We will send you both resources ahead of the course, upon registration.​​​
