with Niels Pflaeging

Learn to think according to principles of organizational self-organization and decentralization

Niels' MasterClasses are learning-intense and to-the-point: They offer the highest level of interaction – without the fluff. Each cohort is limited to 8 participants, to meet the conditions for great, high-quality discussion during the 4 FOUR-HOUR online learning sessions. Course language is English.

CERTIFICATE

Participants will receive a digital certificate of attendance. The certificate is based on full course participation.

THE CONCEPT

Niels' MasterClass consists of four half-day online workshop sessions that will happen over the course of two weeks, guided and facilitated by Niels Pflaeging.

  • The online sessions serve the purpose of reflection and deepening your understanding. Here, Niels will also provide additional conceptual input, share experience, stimulate questioning and facilitate the discussion. Total duration of the course's online sessions is 16 hours.

  • Course reading is essential to this MasterClass: Reading the Essays on Beta, Vol. 1 book and the Laws of the BetaCodex booklet is the first pre-requisite to participation.

  • The study of additional reading materials (articles & papers) ahead of each class is also a pre-requisite.  Studying the additional course reading materials (articles & papers) will require around 2 hours for each of the four sessions - somewhat more for the 1st session.

Character of the course Sessions

The four MasterClass sessions are based on iterative-discursive didactics, not lecturing! There will be no use of PowerPoint or videos during sessions, nor will there be lecturing by Niels during any part of the MasterClass.

CONTENT STRUCTURE during the 4 online sessions

  • Focus day 1: Beta and the BetaCodex – We will discuss the various roots and the history of Beta, its applicability, its value in current market and business contexts, and its core principles

  • Focus day 2. Distinctions & connections - We will charter distinctions, concepts and theories that are essential and helpful for Beta thinking, and necessary for Beta practice (including consistent self-organization, decentralization, agility and organizational democracy)

  • Focus day 3. Change & transformation – We will reflect on the nature of change, on manifold organizational development method, structure, and required elements, and on learning on different levels

  • Focus day 4. Tools, practices, patterns – We will debate how to judge tools and methods, in the context of complex reality; we may also touch upon further topics close to the participants' hearts in this session
